The Sweethearts’ Bluff Nature Area is located right in the town of Grand Marais.

The trail starts at the far west end of the city campground at the bottom of the sliding hill.

The hike is about 2km round trip.  There are picnic shelters and benches along the way with views of the harbour and lake superior shoreline.

There are three main trail options that you can choose from:

  • The Lake Loop: is a wheelchair-friendly trail providing views of Lake Superior
  • The Overlook Loop: brings you up on top of the bluffs above Lake Superior
  • The Tower Loop:  takes you to the remnants of an old Forest Service Tower
