Bellevue Hill

Hike to the top of Bellevue Hill for great views of the Bellevue Valley. This would be a great one to do in the fall when the leaves have changed. The day I went it was raining so the views in my pictures aren’t that great.

Round-trip: 4km
Difficulty: Moderate
Location: Heyden, ON

From Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario drive north on Highway 17 for 13 km. Turn right onto highway 556 E at the signs for Searchmont. Drive for 12km and then turn left onto the tower road. Park near the gates.

The trail begins at the base of the Bellevue Tower road. Hike past the gate and climb the hill on the tower road. At the top go around the left side of the communications tower buildings and find the trail on the north-west side of the clearing. The trail descends the backside of the hill along some mountain biking trails. The trail will curve around then climb a hill to a big boulder. From the boulder follow the trail to the south-east as it comes closer to the edge of the cliffs and back up the hill for a view of the valley at the footings of the towers near the communications buildings. Once you have enjoyed the views, head back to the tower buildings and down the road to the parking spot.

During this loop, you will descend and climb about 700 feet over 4km.
