Hiawatha Highlands is a very popular spot for people to hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, and picnic in Sault Ste Marie. I read somewhere that there are something like 45km of trails here to explore year-round. In the winter you will need to pay to use the trails, but in the summer you do not.
Round-trip: 4km
Difficulty: Easy
Location: Sault Ste Marie, ON
The Hiawatha Highlands also contains Kinsmen Park which includes Crystal Falls, a baseball diamond, a children’s playground, a picnic area, and a swimming area.
The 4km snowshoe trail starts from the northeast end of the parking lot on Landslide Road. Once you are on the trail you will find that it is well marked with orange markers looping back to the parking lot.? At about the halfway point you can take a small side trail to the Pinder Lookout. This trail is divided into a 2km loop, marked in yellow if you are looking for a shorter snowshoe trail.
