From my perspective coming from the Canadian Border and heading South, this is the second section of the Superior Hiking Trail. The best thing about this section is that half of it follows an open rocky ridge, with nearly continual views of the lake.

Drive on Hwy 61 to milepost 128.9 in Hovland, MN and turn north (away from Lake Superior) onto the Arrowhead Trail and go 3.3 miles (5.3 km) to the parking lot on right. If you plan to hike this trail one-way remember to park a car at the other end or pre-arrange the Shuttle Service.
