Mark’s Bay Conservation Area is a beautiful spot for a walk on the beach. To get there drive to the Sault Ste. Marie Airport and then take the first left after the airport entrance and park in the main parking area to the right of the boat launch. This is an ideal place to launch a kayak!
The conservation area is surprisingly quiet considering it is across the road from an airport and it has 3000 metres of shoreline on the St. Mary’s River!
There do not seem to be any marked trails but you can find a few to explore anyway. The most inviting and most obvious is this one along the shoreline of the bay.
From the parking area look for the trail near the shoreline at the south end of the parking lot. This trail mostly follows the beach but there are a few spots where it goes around some wet areas. When you reach the end return the way you came. There are nice views of the St. Mary’s River and the International Bridge as you walk along the sandy shoreline.
