Welsh Mountain trail has a few steep climbs that are rewarded by great views in all directions.
This trail isn’t officially maintained, and while it is marked for the most part with blue blazes, I did have some trouble following the trail in a few spots so be ready to navigate and find your own way.?It can be pretty muddy here in the spring and fall.

From Thunder Bay drive East on Highway 11/17 to Pearl and watch for a small CP rail siding road on the left-hand side called Bowker. ?I am very disappointed to hear that people have been using this area for dumping garbage and that CP is installing a gate to block access to the parking area. ?So you are on your own now to find a safe and legal parking spot due to misuse of the area. ?If you can find a place to park, the trail starts across the tracks from the CP rail siding and through the field angling slightly to the right.

  1. Tanya,

I just went there today. There is a no trespassing sign from the railway on the railroad. I just parked nearer the turnoff and went through the bush further away. The powerline runs perpendicular so you can miss that, the trail starts about 50m east of the creek. It’s a little hard to find but there is flagging tape so you can find it. There is a small bridge over the creek that leads to the trail, I had no difficulty from then on.
