Hike to Lookout Mountain along the Cascade River in Cascade River State Park. This hike is great in the spring when the river is flowing full boar but it really is enjoyable any time of year.
Roundtrip: 7 km
Location: Lutsen, MN
The hardest part about this hike is figuring out which path to take because there are many loops and spurs along both sides of the river. Make sure you are prepared to navigate your way.
Cascade River State Park is located on Highway 61 between Lutsen and Grand Marais. There is parking available along the river next to the highway. The trailhead is on the West side of the river on Highway 61. The trail to Lookout Mountain is signed and the trail includes a steep climb to the summit of the Mountain. From the top, you can see the surrounding forest as well as Lake Superior.

This trail is almost always packed down in winter.
