I have hiked this trail several times both in the summer and winter, but in all honesty, it has been a while since I have been on this hike. Since I haven’t made it back yet so far this winter I thought I’d post the trail now so that hopefully some of you will be able to get out and enjoy it before winter is done.

Take Hwy 11/17 East for approx 168 km. At about 4km past Cavers Cove, and about 5km before Pays Plat there is an unnamed road on the north side of the highway across from a snowplow turnaround that leads to Nishin and Wabasta Lakes. Park on this road and then walk back down the highway about 800 m to the trailhead located on the south side of the highway near a wooded hill at the start of an old road. The trail was marked with blue tape on my last visit. The trail heads into the woods up the hill. From there the winter trail travels along the top of the hill, through the forest, across Cathy Lake, and finally up to a view over Lake Superior and Cavers Cove. Returning the way you came.
