Location: Thunder Bay, ON
Kingfisher Lake Outdoor Education Centre is run by the Lakehead Public Schools to teach awareness and appreciation of nature to children.
The public trail winds through a wetland and forest to the shore of Kingfisher Lake before looping back to the starting point. This popular trail is well marked and we found we did not need our snowshoes even after a fresh snowfall.
Travel east on Highway 11/17 and turn left onto Highway 527. Follow Hwy 527 for 20 km and watch for the sign on the right for the Kingfisher Outdoor Education Centre. Park to the left in the parking area near the highway. The driveway is not for public use.
That is different. I never knew public could access this area. Is it just the trail, anyone can hike on? can one stop and swim in the lake if there in summer?
can one walk down to the Campground?
It is a public trail…very good summer hike and great winter snowshoe…not well known so isn?t that busy…
Is the general public allowed to go here or is it private property of the Lakehead school board?
