James Duncan Nature Trail

Hike to the Little Trout Bay Lookout for views of Little Trout Bay.  The best views are in the winter when the leaves are down.

Trail distance: 1 km
Trail Difficulty: Easy
Trail Location: Thunder Bay, ON

Google map here.

Little Trout Bay Conservation Area is located 45 minutes south of Thunder Bay on Highway 61 to Little Trout Bay Road, turn left and follow the road seven minutes to the Conservation Area.

Park at the boat launch. The trail is located across the road from the parking area. This short trail starts out in a gully and works its way up to a lookout with a bench. The trail did not have any blazes when I went, but it was wide enough to follow easily.

  1. This was a good hike today,it was neat to walk alongside the mountain.
I guess the best time to go is in the fall /winter as the view from the top today was not at all spectacular.
All we could see was trees, but im sure winter is much better.
The hike itself was nice, but the trail was in pretty rough shape.
