Little Trout Point

The hike to the point along Little Trout Peninsula is best done in winter so that you can have the greatest views of the lake.

Round-trip: 4 km
Difficulty: Moderate
Location: Thunder Bay, ON

Little Trout Bay Conservation Area is located 45 minutes south of Thunder Bay on Highway 61 to Little Trout Bay Road, turn left and follow the road seven minutes to the Conservation Area. Park in the parking area.

From the docks head East along the shore watching for the start of the unmarked trailhead on your left. Follow the trail as it heads up the hill then turns right and heads toward the point. The trail is not marked.

Normally this trail is pretty easy to follow, but there has been a lot of blow-down here. It takes some effort to go around the blow-down and follow the trail. It was quite a job to make it to the end of the peninsula through all of the blow-down!

I have posted three other hikes that start near the Little Trout Bay Conservation AreaLittle Trout Bay Lookout, Little Trout Ice Hike, and Mount Mollie. I have one or two more to add in the future.
